Hmm, inverse square law... Funny, I was just reading something in Scientific American, a theory about cosmic acceleration being caused by the leakage of gravity into extra dimensions, and that mentioned the inverse square law. Or more exactly, the author hypothesized that gravity over long (cosmic) distances obeys not an inverse square law but an inverse cube law, spreading out over three dimensions.
