Summer Movies

The summer blockbuster movie season is upon us. Last night I went to watch The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy at the local megaplex and I was slightly disappointed. It just didn’t have enough ‘oomph’ for me. It wasn’t as funny as the books, it wasn’t as funny as the venerable TV series, it wasn’t as funny as the eponymous BBC web encyclopaedia. I left the movie feeling let down, thinking ‘That’s all there is? Two hours for that? Oh well.’ Go read the HHGTTG books, or watch the BBC TV series, or better yet, listen to the BBC radio series that started it all. They are all much better.

Now on to the real 800 pound gorilla among summer blockbusters, Star Wars Episode III: The Revenge of the Sith opens next week, and all indications are this movie is finally going to take names and kick some ass. And I am ready to enjoy it all. I got my ticket for the 12:01 a.m. premiere showing on Guam, which I am pretty sure will be the first public showing of this movie anywhere. I am ready and rarin’ to go for this one.

have fun at the new star wars film.

maybe you’ll see the trailer for the MAX HAVOC: CURSE OF THE DRAGON that was shot on Guam last year.

When you’re there and if you get a chance, talk to Shelly Gibson, Director of Special Events there at the Microniesia Mall Theaters. She’s setting up the premier (for MAX HAVOC) and I think THERE IS a trailer that’s gonna show before Star Wars. GEDCA is gonna have a red carpet thing.

    Let us know, Thomas!
