Typhoon Passing

Looks like the typhoon is passing Guam and heading north towards Saipan and Tinian. Watch out up there guys! The latest storm track from the JTWC has Kong-Rey passing east of Saipan and heading off to the north. Here is the latest bulletin from the National Weather Service:

...TYPHOON KONG-REY MOVING NORTHWEST TOWARD SAIPAN...

AS OF 8 PM GUAM LST...A TYPHOON WARNING IS IN AFFECT FOR AGRIHAN. TYPHOON FORCE WINDS OF 74 MPH OR MORE ARE EXPECTED TUESDAY MORNING.

AS OF 8 PM...THE TYPHOON WARNING FOR GUAM IS CANCELLED. DAMAGING WINDS ARE NO LONGER EXPECTED ON GUAM.

AS OF 8 PM...THE TYPHOON WARNING FOR ROTA IS DOWNGRADED TO A TROPICAL STORM WARNING. TYPHOON FORCE WINDS ARE NO LONGER EXPECTED BUT TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS OF 39 MPH OR MORE ARE STILL LIKELY.

A TYPHOON WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR TINIAN AND SAIPAN.

AT 7 PM GUAM LST...0900Z...THE CENTER OF TYPHOON KONG-REY WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 14.1 DEGREES NORTH AND LONGITUDE 148.7 DEGREES EAST. THIS IS ABOUT 270 MILES EAST OF GUAM
235 MILES EAST OF ROTA
215 MILES EAST-SOUTHEAST OF TINIAN
210 EAST-SOUTHEAST OF SAIPAN
380 MILES SOUTH-SOUTHEAST OF AGRIHAN
335 MILES SOUTHEAST OF PAGAN
310 MILES SOUTHEAST OF ALAMAGAN.

TYPHOON KONG-REY IS MOVING NORTHWEST AT 15 MPH. THIS GENERAL MOTION IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE OVER THE NEXT 24 HOURS.

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE 75 MPH. TYPHOON KONG-REY IS EXPECTED TO INTENSIFY OVERNIGHT.

TYPHOON FORCE WINDS EXTEND OUT TO 15 MILES FROM THE CENTER. TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS EXTEND OUT TO 125 MILES NORTH OF THE CENTER AND OUT TO 90 MILES SOUTH OF THE CENTER.

REPEATING THE 7 PM POSITION...14.1 DEGREES NORTH AND 148.7 DEGREES EAST...MOVING NORTHWEST AT 15 MPH WITH MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS OF 75 MPH.

AN INTERMEDIATE ADVISORY WILL BE ISSUED BY THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE AT 11 PM GUAM LST...FOLLOWED BY THE NEXT SCHEDULED ADVISORY AT 2 AM TUESDAY MORNING.
